Debra A. Miller, MD, is a board-certified Obesity Specialist who is also boarded in Family Medicine. She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from Northwestern and Indiana Universities.

She completed a 3-year residency at Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis’ Clarian Hospitals.

She is the founder of the campus and is medical director of the Mapleton Center for Health, Fitness and Nutrition in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is an avid teacher of medical students, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and medical assistants. She is co-founder of the Bethesda Clinical Research Center. She is a regional and national lecturer about obesity. As a faculty member of Marietta College in Ohio, she had mentored and taught physician assistants.

She is the sole physician to sit on the Advisory Board of Harrison College.

Currently, she is participating in clinical trials via innovation Clinical Concepts in numerous areas of interest including hypertension and diabetes. Her participation in a
7-year diabetes study is currently on-going.

Her most recent publication is “Childhood Obesity Initiative” which reported clinical data from Camp Mapleton, a 2-year childhood obesity initiative completed in cooperation with Ebenezer Institute and Trinity Episcopal Church.

Dr. Miller is a spokesperson for the American Heart Association and has sat on the clinical advisory boards of several pharmaceutical concerns. She has served as a faculty member of the Eli Lilly Advisory Board. She currently sits on several speakers’ bureaus.

She is the Medical Director of Entrust home health, Central Home Health Care, and American Home Health. In 2006, she launched the Physician 2 Your Door.

Her most recent endeavor is the Wellness Crusade, established in 2006 to educate professional and lay persons alike on the topics of clinical purification, hypertension, depression, and the metabolic syndrome. Her focus during the crusade was chronic diseases and preventative care.

Dr. Miller believes in the sanctity of human life and that the greatest calling of a physician is to preserve the health and integrity of the body, mind, and spirit.Her interest in Integrative of “blended” medicine grew out of a need to address the obesity epidemic. Dr. Miller currently hosts the weekly radio program, “Medically Speaking” on AM1310, and practices Integrative Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana.

She is a member of the National Medical Association, American Medical Society, The American Society of Obesity, Physicians, Indiana University, and Northwestern University Alumni Associations.

She is a long-time member of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians. As a Diplomat of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, she presented before the National Medical Association on the topic of “Obesity, A Treatment Algorithm.” She has been interviewed by the Indianapolis Star, the Indianapolis Recorder and has appeared on numerous television and radio programs.

Dr. Miller was honored by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association in May 2010 Power Awards as a Power Ambassador at the Apollo Theater in New York City.

She sat on the American Heart Association Board for 2014-2015.

Her most recent initiatives include the Physician 2 Your Door and The Convenience Care Center, both are an attempt to address the massive changes in healthcare via the expansive Affordable Care Act.

She is married and has 2 adult children.
